Dominant Language Ideology
Author's Note
For this project, I began my separating the three categories that were asked for into three headings: Personal Life, Business/Professional Life, and Popular or Public Life. I then decided which categories underneath those three I could talk about. I knew I wanted to hit on my personal education and achievements which I did so in my resume. I wanted to talk about my profession of choice, Accounting. I was able to do that by incorporating in "Industry Talk" and used the four major financial statements in the Accounting field. I wanted to discuss my own personal experience growing up in the public school system. Growing up I lived about 10 minutes away from a very heavily exposed Gullah culture. Students, teachers, and members of the community would have the thick Gullah accent. I noticed that some of the people would talk one way at home and another way at school. I incorporated this education experience in with culture on my Wix page. I also incorporated in graphs discussing higher education in respect to trust and gender in the workforce. After I decided that these were he subgroups I wanted to incorporate in, I began researching online. I looked for percentages of immigration when it comes to how heavily diverse our culture is in the U.S. I looked for graphs on different levels of education and how it impacted the workforce. I read articles on what they believed the difference to be when it comes to higher levels of education. I found pictures online of different social media website logos. I also did some research on different slang used on the different websites. Once I had compiled all of the pictures, graphs, and resumes that I wanted to use, I began putting them together on the Wix page. From there, I wrote a few paragraphs for each thing, wrote a question and answer section, and this author's note to summarize, explain, and make connections. After summarizing all of the information from my research I began decorating the page with different layouts, fonts, designs, textboxes, and colors.
